Planning for Ship Operations

This term refers to process of managing sequence of operations for maritime transport units, including monitoring, executing all loading, unloading, related activities within a port or terminal.

Primary objective of ship operations planning is to optimize arrangement of incoming, outgoing ships, preventing congestion, delays in schedules. Additionally, it ensures smooth execution of processes such as cargo handling, which improves safety for terminal staff, enhances efficiency of work queues.

Pre-scheduling and ongoing check-in procedures further refine allocation of ships in line with the port's timetable.

Ship operations planning is a core module of Terminal Operating Software (TOS). System handles sequencing tasks for both container, considering vessel design, specifications, available stowage capacity to determine the most effective placement, workflow for each transport.
