STS (Ship-to-Shore) Crane
STS (also called Container Handling Gantry crane or Quay Crane) is a large dockside crane, located at container terminals. It is used for loading and unloading intermodal containers from the vessels.
STS cranes are very effective due to their carriage capacity. They aren’t that flexible in deployment, since they use rails along the quayside to move. They usually transport one container per lift, but some newer models can lift up to four standardized (20-foot) containers at once.
