Container Terminal Simulation (CTS)

Container Terminal Simulation (CTS)

Container Terminal Simulation (CTS for short) is a technology application used for strategic and design planning. This tool helps simulate outcomes of planned challenges to decide on the most optimal course of action. For example, Container Terminal Simulation can help plan testing new terminal location (greenfield level decisions) and expansions/reorganizations of terminal facilities (brown level decisions).

Terminal managers (operators) use CTS to evaluate terminal key resources, such as RTGs, RMGs, AGVs, RST, STS, Quay Cranes, Trailers, Straddles, and other systems. This application also helps mitigate risks from external factors (weather conditions, force majeure, etc.).

Terminal operators go through various simulations to find the best solution. Furthermore, they can utilize TOS (Terminal Operating System) in the simulation processes. For example, it can simulate a complete working terminal with all of its operational elements.

As we mentioned, most of these simulation techniques are tied to the TOS. Terminal operators use it to find the most optimal strategy for optimization.

To sum up, container terminal optimization and planning are complex processes that include significant financial and operational expenses. With Container Terminal Simulation software, operators can significantly reduce these expenses while allowing them to choose the best equipment for certain tasks, develop optimal strategies, and make changes in the terminal's design.
